Plaza de la Horta 1 49002 Zamora (Castilla y León|Spain)
The hotel chain NH Hotels has opened their first establishment in the city of Zamora. It is located in a tremendously valuable architectural setting less than 100 meters from the Duero River. This construction has a double attraction: firstly, because liberated the Romanic Church Santa María de Horta from the 12th century, on the north façade, which was formally hidden from view; and secondly, it displays the indispensable touch of design and good taste that has begun to distinguish this Spanish hotel chain. After a beginning full of uncertainties, we can now affirm that today the hotel constitutes the most brilliant example of a hotel of new tendencies in the providence. On the property stands the tallest smokestack in Castilla y León, which is cataloged as a historic and artistic monument. The building rises between: the old ruins of the Convent Orden Hospitalaria de San Juan de Jerusalén, b14th to 15th century; the Comendadoras Convent, 16th century; and the buildings corresponding the Fábrica de la Luz and the old brewery known as La Vinícola, used from the 1940s to the 1980s. Conceived by the architect Francisco Somozam, a native of Zamora, the bedrooms are decorated with utmost style and functionality, equipped with the customary services of the establishments that form part of the Gold Selection. A striking domed ceiling portrays an allegory in the old dinning room. And, in March of 2002 a convention center adjacent to the hotel opened, in which events and business conventions of certain level are celebrated. The hotel also provides a library with travel books, city guides and children’s books. And they don’t leave out any contemporary details, to give an example, the special feminine kits presented in the bathroom, developed by Woman Style.

The system of central heating is inefficient. Some bathrooms are extremely cold and at times the sensation carries through to the rooms. This is something inconceivable today in any modern hotel.
