Description

A holy name for the hill on which this sober 1918 building rests. It is a tall, whitewashed building with Arabic tile roofing and interiors that summarize the precepts of aristocratic and palatial styles but restrained by modern demands. Immaculate marbles and woods line the floors of the halls and lobbies accessed through arches. The furniture distils a classic atmosphere, as in the upholstery of the chairs, the pastel colors of walls and light fixtures, not to mention the sumptuous ceiling lamps… The bedrooms are more functional than the common areas, with its remarkable tall fabric-lined headboards and the splendid views, since this place offers one of the best views of Viana do Castelo, with the Limia river and the church and ocean forming the décor behind the balcony… Out in the open and between forests awaits the swimming pool, with the romantic touch of an old stone fountain.

SURROUNDINGS:

Viana do Castelo has important monuments that can be visited on foot: the 15th century cathedral, Santa Cruz church, Santa Ana convent and Santiago da Barra castle (all three from the 16th century). If you have a car you can set off to find Vila Praia de Âncora, Vila Nova de Cerveira, Ponte da Barca and Valença do Minho amongst other historic cities. And inland, Ponte de Lima has become the main center of Solares de Portugal (room tourism), with a pretty golf course.
