In 2003 the old, run-down barber’s house in town saw how its chipped paint and weeds gave way to sponge-painted walls and a cheerful garden with benches and hammocks. Ecological compromise in the orange grove, and even more life in the hen house, with a whole string of geese, hens, ducks and royal turkeys.
