Description
Raised on a high spot in town, this inn can be made out from the new Extremadura highway and is easy to find. An old tile sign on the door announces the establishment and cars may enter the covered parking in the interior patio, under the castle towers. The building’s restoration does not go unnoticed: the walls are marvelously painted, the stairs well polished, the archways are restored, and the reception area is illuminated with halogen lighting. The personable staff is little prepared to hustle, however. Bedrooms avoid the severe and fossilized style of so many other historic inns. Even so, the ambiance is not quite exquisite or elegant. The dark tones of the comforters and curtains, unattractive minibar, stark black television don’t make for sweet dreams.. The more refined bedrooms, including the suite, are appointed with a canopy bed and old fashioned and furnature that is almost kitsch. The bathrooms are comfortably spacious and sufficiently illuminated. The common areas show little of the Castilian severity common on other inns, thanks to the great originality of some elements, such as the lamps that preside the cooridors leading to the bedrooms or the illumination in the hallway to the patio, combining designer lamps and medieval banners. Tranquility reigns the ambiance and there is an uncountable number of quality pieces that adorn the interiors: oil paintings, large draperies, copper parole, ceramic vessels from Puente del Arzobispo... And several conference rooms have been habilitated on the first floor. The renovations show respect for the original architecture, conserving the arches, skirting board, corner stones, stairways and even a cistern.

Arañuelo´s bread bits and marinated quail at the inn.
SURROUNDINGS:
Paroquial Church and the Convents La Misercordia and Nuestra Señora del Recuerdo and interesting tourist sites for ceramic and embroidery work. Pure handcrafts.
ACTIVITIES:
Horseback riding and pheasant hunting.
