Calle Barón 19 36002 Pontevedra (Galicia|Spain)
The monumental surroundings of Pontevedra and the former country house to the Counts of Maceda house the remnants of a noble inheritance. This renaissance palace dates to the 16th century and is surrounded by a small but pleasant garden and fountain; it is a postcard worthy scene interrupted only a bit by the road. Recent interior renovations in 2002 boast a rural taste and regal atmosphere, with tapestries, candlesticks, Fedinando-style chairs, gold-leave lamps, mirrors, and golden picture frames and rugs along the corridors that lead the way. There is an old lareira and woven chenille pieces, and even they seem aristocratic. A solemn stairway communicates to the bedchambers; these are clad in velveteen, hard woods and canopy beds. The dinning room, refreshed by shades of green and blue, and the bar with its aged wooden barrels, and a terrace with awnings make up the rest of the establishment.
