Camino Camí Vell 57 07710 Sant Lluís /Menorca (Balearic Islands|Spain)
This 16th-century country home in Mallorca was recovered from ruins in 1996 by a postimpressionist artist and fashion designer, Lindsay Mullen and Verónica Moreno. In a peaceful spot to the south of the island, they confided in the perpetuity of the original elements, in the arches, and exposed stone and wood of the walls and ceilings. They have taken advantage of the garden to convert it into an explosion of color and aromas with roses, lavender and bougainvilleas; this botanical Eden blossoms around a precious pool of Roman inspiration. The bedrooms offer a personalized decoration, perhaps a tad kitschy. Some are more formal, others are more striking. The common areas and the library conserve a freshness and comfort, with a rustic and careful appearance. The same goes for the restaurant that prolongs to the terrace. The paintings of Lindsey Mullen, on permanent exhibition here, provide even more color and vivacity.
