Camino de Binicomprat s/n 07210 Algaida /Mallorca (Balearic Islands|Spain)
Gabriel and Juana inherited this 16th century possessió with the 100 hectors of surrounding countryside, which is now used mainly to grow the grapes from which the owners make their very own wine. The estate name refers to the wooded areas with pines and oak trees of Muslim origin. Its history remotes back to when Mallorca was under Islamic rule. After the Christian conquest in 1229, a list of properties divided among the conquerors was documented in a book. The land where this manor house stands has belonged to the Fiol de Binicomprat family since the 15th century, direct ancestors of the actual owners. The family coat of shield on the façade, the great front entrance with an archway where carriages once passed through, the spacious kitchen, wine cellar and chapel were all distributed on the first floor, while the second floor was reserved for the family’s bedchambers. The predominant view is of the Randa Mountain, where lays a Franciscan sanctuary founded in the 15th century by the mystic Ramón Llull and other hermits including Sant Honorat. Nearby, in Castellitx, stands a primitive district church from the 13th century, a place of pilgrimage during Easter accessed by a trail that passes through the woods. Today the main building encloses two bedchambers; two sitting rooms, one of them with a fireplace; the former kitchen now the dinning room; the small chapel; and bodega that have a splendid wine selection. The rest of the rooms, which occupy the former stables, have very spacious dimensions between 60 and 70 square meters. The architecture of the manor combines comfort and quality of details with the austerity of olden days. The interior decor features coffee tables made of teakwood from Java, sofas with hand painted fabrics, white walls and bedcovers, a careful illumination and kitchens decorated with ceramic tiles. The Suite, located in the main house, displays classic furniture of Mallorca and a spacious sitting room with fireplace and large balconies offering stunning views of the woodlands. In the summertime, breakfasts are served at dinning table in the garden, next to a magnificent swimming pool.
