Description

Jaime Tàpies, succumbed to the beauty of the Urgellet Valley in Lerida, acquired this property adjoining a fortress to build one of the most exquisite and inviting little hotels in all of the Catalonian Pyrenees. Forming part of the group Relais et Chateaux, the hotel provides a meticulous service with such thoughtful details, such as inviting guests to visit the wine cellar or the natural flowers that perfume the bathrooms. The bedrooms, nobly dressed with fine woods, are spacious and elegant. The interior decor, which is sumptuous but not at all mannered, reveals Mrs. Tàpies’ personal touch. Not long ago, the owners added a wellness center with aromatherapy rooms, reiki, Thalgomince wraps, mineral therapy and a beauty salon true to new tendencies. A praiseworthy maxim at this hotel is that the restaurant does not open, and it has never opened in the last half a century without a member of the Tàpies family present to receive guests. Is that not a luxury?

Cal Teo Restaurant on Avenue Pau Clarís, 38. Tel. 973 35 10 29. Iberian ham and cold cuts. Meets, such as veal, ox, sirloin steaks and filets either grilled or cooked under stone. Menu: between 20 and 30 €.

Go ahead and ask Jaume Tàpies for a ride over the Pyrenees peeks in the hot-air balloon, helicopter or little plane. He just may… If you enjoy skiing, take advantage of Andorra’s ski slopes nearby.
