Description

Since 1763 the Pallarés family has run this hotel complex with love and dedication. Isolated in the Catalonian Pre-Pyrenees, it stands below a rocky mountainside that kisses the Segre River, half way between Lérida and Andorra. It history is embedded in the sheets and written in the pages of a book, Fusta de Boix (Box Wood), which is on sale in the reception. Joan Pallarés represents the tenth generation of this legendary family, who has carried out the responsibility of bestowing hospitality to guests and trying always to improve their installations. The primitive building has just been remodeled, making it a reference in the area. In front, an annex with ample dimensions houses the majority of the bedrooms, all identified with the name of one of the 20 springs in the area: La Font Viva, La Font del Capellà, La Font del Cané, La Font de la Vila... If weather permits, the arched terrace invites guests to loose all notion of time daydreaming in the gardens.

EATING:

In the hotel itself, offers a careful gourmet cuisine prepared by the Pallarés family, along with an extensive wine and cigar list. Also, the restaurant La Cabaña d´en Geli, an old ranch, serves elaborate dishes with seasonal produce and homemade desserts. Highway of Sant Llorenç Morunys, 35 in Solsona. (22 km). Tel. 973 48 29 57. Menu: between 20 and 30 €.

SURROUNDINGS:

It’s worth taking a little hike in mountainous area surrounding the hotel to see its many Romanic hermitages. The cities of Solsona and la Seo de Urgel also deserve a visit.
