Plaza Luis de Camões 8 1200-243 Lisbon /Lisboa (Lisbon|Portugal)
Taking a part of the whole is not usually a recommendable thing to do, but since the spring of 2005 this popular district in Lisbon can boast a five-star hotel that is as trendy in spirit as its display of cafes and boutiques. Occupying a commanding and stately building with a cream-colored façade, facing the statue of the renowned poet Luis de Camões, this hotel doesn’t do quite right with its display. A spacious and classic lobby, just barely filled with two white arches and two baroque benches, is linked without a feeling on continuity with the modern bar Garrett, which is divided into two parts along three levels: below, the igloo lounge ideal for private parties; above, The Mezzanine, a snappy spot separated by a glass wall. Mural of colors, play of lighting, plasma screens, lacquered Chinese tables… A lighthouse in the night. Yet another. The restaurant Flores, decorated with black and white photographs by Rui Calçado Bastos, Polish glass, Italian linins over mahogany tables, has raised its young chef Henrique Sá Pessoa to the top of the lists in 2005. In the bedrooms, four different color schemes prevail, depending on the room category: yellow, ivory, steel blue and red. In all of them, Brazilian wood floors, wicker, American walnut closets, and bathrooms with veined marble and lacquered tiles. Some contributions of the Ralph Lauren designs on the top floor, a terrace under great awnings and a meeting room O Poeta complete the collection.
