Paço Real 2510 Óbidos /Leiria (Ribatejo|Portugal)
A monument of national interest, this pousada was the first in the network to be built in a historical building. And there is no lack of reasons why this privilege was bestowed upon it, since Óbidos exudes ancient times from every corner. Looking from the hill on which its castle was built, within the palace walls, it can be seen full of roofs and balconies decorated with flowers. This palace was ruined and rebuilt many times, finally opening its doors to guests in 1950, leaving behind its noble past. The yearning for such importance now finds its place in its medieval decoration in limited spaces. The main framework shows its stone walls, austere furniture and very valuable wood carvings. The dining hall, facing the Óbidos lake and the barbican extends the recreation, heated by a large chimney. Bedrooms upstairs and downstairs that do not want to join the tower suite, reached after a walk through the plains enclosed behind the battlements. Inside the suite the weight of history comes to life: black wrought iron lamps, ancient furniture and a small staircase that leads to a bed with a baldachin.
