Calle Porta da Pena 17 15704 Santiago de Compostela /La Coruña (Galicia|Spain)
Its strong point is the location: an old building two stories high, right in the historic center of Santiago, on a street that boasts one of the seven gateways of the medieval city. An enticing garden flourishes around the house and alongside the great city fortress, facing the breakfast room sited in the glass gallery on the first floor. Another gallery on the second floor is used as a reading room with interesting volumes, a telescope and several tables for writing and games. Beyond that, the bedrooms all have windows overlooking the city and there are two loft rooms. Bedrooms and common areas alike are all cozy, thanks the their cheerful style and detail, between classic and rustic. The most interesting rooms are pointed out in the review by Fernando Gallardo, our hotel expert.

At Toñi Vicente (Rosalía de Castro, 24. Tel. 081 59 41 00. Menu: over 30 euros). Outsanding Galician cuisine, in a careful and selevive surrounding. At Casa Marcelo (Rúa Hortas, 1. Tel. 981 55 85 80. Menu: between 20 and 30 euros). Rustic and contemporary charm in equal parts. A daily menu that changes daily, like in the old taverns. It’s always full.
