Carretera N-330 Astún-Candanchú km 669 22880 Canfranc /Huesca (Aragon|Spain)
Half way between Astún and Candanchú, rests this renovated XIX century hotel, -even though it owes its name to the XI century Santa Cristina de Somport monastery- and since then it has been a part of Pyrenees history. It has been a hospital/sanctuary for people on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage that on their way to the port of Somport, a mountaineers shelter, officers quarters, witness to a visit from Alfonso the XIII to the inauguration of the Canfrac railroad, and today a beautiful Sky lodge. This thanks to the entrepreneur from Zaragoza, Fernando Iranzo. With a more than typical stone and slate architecture, it crowns the whole valley. The landscape is on the other side of the hotel waiting to be admired. The creation of architect Ignacio Arzubialde and the artist Vicente García Plana, who is also known for his work on the La Casueña hotel; the facilities now have a more showy, modern look: worm lighting, designer chairs, matching jarapas (Andalutian rugs), and abstract art on the walls and headboards, among other things. It has a restaurant, the Boj, with a very creative cuisine, a fitness spa, a cafe-bar, a terrace and wi-fi areas. Its just about a couple of miles from the Astún and Candanchú sky slopes.
