Come winter, it’s a delight to nestle into the sheets and blankets made of natural fibers. Especially in the loft bedchambers, some looking to the snowcapped peaks and others to the rustic sight of the town. Or the Suite, with its hydromassage bath. But there is something even more essential here to appetize travelers, and it’s the incontestable home touch of products rooted in the lands, prepared in the kitchen and presented to the tables. No other place serves meats so healthy, in an ambiance so comfortable as the Ciria family in El Fogaril Restaurant.

THE WORST:

The absence of more common areas and places to relax after a day on the slopes.


ROOMS WE RECOMMEND:

Ciria is a magnificent hotel. It grew from a traditional inn, converting little by little into a “grand” hotel. It’s true that some rooms are small; others are of reasonable size; while the loft rooms are really quite large, considering they are duplexes. And that’s not to mention the Suite, a loft room featuring proud oak woods. However, that may all change come next year. The Ciria brothers have promised an extension of the hotel along two lines that I consider vital: the first order is to increase the bedrooms short in space and ambiance; the second, and most important, is the creation of living rooms to read and converse relaxingly, away from the hubbub in the bar, heated pool and the spa, which are all so fundamental in the wintertime after returning from the slopes.

Hotel recommendations

Hotel Ciria opened its doors in 1990. Sited in Benasque, just 6 km from the Cerler Ski Mountain. The construction respects traditional architecture of High-Aragon and the materials in the area, wood and stone from the valley.
Managed by the Ciria Family, this three-star establishment offers 38 bedrooms with complete bathrooms, television, telephone and the majority of rooms also have terraces. The loft rooms stand out for their sloped wooden ceilings, specially for families; the duplex with living room; the quadruple duplexes and Suites on two floors and equipped down to the details: hydromassage baths, hairdryer, mini-bar…
The second and third floors were completely reformed in 2005, providing bedrooms with either one or two double beds and views of Tilos Avenue or the Mountains, mini-bar, guest safe and hairdryer.
High-speed, wireless WiFi Internet connection is accessible from any part of the hotel.
At this small mountain hotel, the guests are kindly treated and each family member is looked after.
The establishment rounds off its services and installations with a bar-café, ski storage, crib, and around the clock reception. The restaurant, El Fogaril, is named after the old stone and granite dome that has a handcrafted wooden cadiera located in at the entrance to the dinning room, which is an ideal place for animated gatherings.
The kitchen is directed by Dionisio Ciria, who has managed to rescue grandmother’s recipes, while introducing creative new dishes; guests are presented with traditional fare and culinary innovations.
The Ciria brothers are great hunters and fishers passionate about the mountains, and they offer their catch in the restaurant menu. A variety of mushrooms, wild fruits and herbs they’ve fetched are also used in the kitchen. And, they make their own sweet liquor and raspberry wine.
