Calle Sant Esteve 17 17462 Madremanya /Girona (Catalonia|Spain)
Between Bordils and La Bisbal, amid the green fields of Empordà, lays a little medieval village with a very Mediterranean style called Madremanya. At the edge of this town there is a 14th century country estate, with arches from the 15th and 16th century, which has been converted into an inn; it’s a handsome place, the kind that attracts the attention of travelers passing by who abandon their cars in a small lot outlined by a wood fence to have a closer look. Assumpta Puig, the owner, has decorated the interiors with discreet rural style that is dominated by cream-colored stucco walls and exposed stone. Each room is different: In L’Olivera the bedroom and sitting room are divided by a stone arch; El Xiprer looks out to the sunflower fields from a terrace, which can even be seen from the squared bathtub lined up close to a little window; Les Poderes has a sitting area with three large windows and a bathroom the color of indigo. The apartments have kitchens enjoy even more space, independence and contact with the garden that have furnished terraces, with gardened areas and all. The entire building is well illuminated from the outside and from the pool, so it is especially attractive by night. The inn invites guests to enjoy the sight while having a nightcap on the porch.
