As a prelude to great discoveries, history invites imagining infant Dom Enrique guarding the west coast of Algarve from this very hill. The Pousada pays homage to the founder of the first Portuguese school of navigation, thanks to whom the islands of Madeira and Azores were discovered, and where Vasco da Gama, Álvares Cabral and Magallanes studied. Such a mark is immortalized in the select collection of marine engravings exposed inside the building. The same charm can be felt at the swimming pool and the garden peering over the cliff, and in an ancient marble hall. Even the building itself, that distils a certain noble charm despite having been built in the sixties. The bedrooms are cheerful, bright and detailed.
