Carretera Algeciras-Ronda s/n 11350 Castellar de la Frontera /Cádiz (Andalusia|Spain)
On 16,000 hectors of land dedicated to extracting corks and breeding mountain pigs, stands this old house and convent building in the 17th century just kilometers from the Algeciras Bay. A sumptuous road passes a forest protected for bird nesting and leads to the white and yellow façade of this accomodation. The Dukes of Medinaceli build the construction in the 17th century to explore the low lands of its domains in Castellar de la Frontera, which the used for hunting. Later the bequest came to form part of the Rumasa patrimony expropriated by the government, the present-day owner. Bedrooms are austere and decorated with the true materials of nature, fit for a religious retreat. The bathrooms, except for a few patches of humidity, are exquisite. Upon arriving, guests must call out or ring the bell to be opened, where awaits a patio full of potted flowers and plants at the center of the bedchambers and common areas. The lounges enclose furniture and paintings of quite some value, as well as belongings of the Medinaceli family. The house is a distance from any village or town, reason enough for guests to share the dinning room table, and as the night wares on they may enjoy a drink in the terrace or play a game of pool in the library. In the stately English-style lounges guests guests can listen to a piano sonata, read a book or have a round of pool.
