Plaza Mayor 1 09340 Lerma /Burgos (Castilla y León|Spain)
Sited in the main square of town, this palace was built between 1601 and 1617 to receive the frequent visits of King Felipe III. Francisco Gómez de Sandoval y Rojas commissioned its construction to architect Francisco Mora who designed this monumental building with regal flare that today forms part of the association of historic inns in Spain. The interior decoration was devised by María Moreno de Cala, and the spectacular patio has been transformed into the vestibule and gathering point for guests.

Poor music in the common areas. Lack of electric outlets near the bedside table. Some bedrooms are in want of a more bold style. The main square of Lerma at times seems like a big parking lot.
