Description

The first hotel by the NH chain in Burgos, facing the Arlanzón River and beside the Jesuit Church of the Merced, this establishment occupies an attractive construction built in the 16th and 17th centuries, which encloses a true treasure: a gothic cloister from the 16th century, below a pyramidal dome made of steel and glass. The interiors boast a formal and discrete minimalist style, different from the ornate aesthetic so usual in monuments of this kind. Perfectly conserved installations exhibit prints signed by painter De la Cerba. The bedroom decor is attractive for its simplicity, because the elegance of quality materials require little additional touches. The linen and wool bedspreads, curtains, cloth covered walls and headboards, together with the soft carpeting give the rooms warmth. All the bedrooms over generous dimensions and a nearly perfect soundproofing, in addition to equipment that is ever more complete and in the spirit of this chain: pillow menu, daily newspaper on every floor, Internet connection and work desk...

EATING:

The hotel restaurant offers a quality cuisine. The breakfasts however are disappointing, as they are way to conventional. Ibeas-style beans at Restaurant Rincón de España. Nuño Rasura, 11. Tel: 947 20 49 55. Menu: between 21 and 30 €.
