Unter den Linden 77 10117 Berlin (Berlin|Germany)
The image of Hotel Adlon is as characteristic and representative of Berlin as the Brandemburgo Gate or the Berlin Wall. The city wouldn’t be the same without its flag hotel in the historic Pariser Platz at the beginning of the fabulous Unter den Linden Avenue, in the shade of the grand Gate. This hotel was the protagonist of the Vicky Baum’s novel, residency for noble families, a luxury place to see and be seen at the turn-of-the-century in the German capital, synonymous to a European capital. And it seduced tsars and politicians, the dazzling Chaplin and Dietrich and the name, Lorenz Adlon. The small Switzerland of Germany, as it was called, survived times of crisis as a wartime hospital, but couldn’t safe itself from the fires of 1945. Closed in 1970, it wasn’t until after the country’s reunification, that its reconstruction began in the original site. Today it boasts a new and modern annex, the Adlon Palais. Interiors remember the glory days with its striking marbles and skylight, fine tapestries, elegant lounges and handsome suites. Also deserving of mention, the health and beauty facilities found in a precious setting.
