Calle Sant Sever 5 08002 Barcelona (Catalonia|Spain)
Even though Barcelona has the traveler accustomed to the always-attractive blend of tradition and modernity, that doesn’t detract merit from latest experiment developed by the chain Habitat. This hotel is concealed behind the restored façade of an 18th palace right in the heart of the Gothic neighborhood, amid the lively streets and next to the tranquil plaza of San Felipe Neri. To enter this establishment is to withdraw into a relaxing atmosphere of design and lounge music, studied down to the millimeter in order to offer an innovating ambiance, while not repetitively applying the ABCs of Catalonian disseny. Around the patio, lights direct point out the limited common installations, to the left there is a little baroque sitting room with library, and at the far end is the restaurant with its minimalist bar. The bedchambers reveal a personal character in every detail: from the themes of the paintings that are different on each of the three floors, to the designer comforters, or the bed frames built into the walls. Each of the 20 rooms has a personal touch.

Exclusive and Singular
An 18th century palace skillfully unites the echoes and characteristics of the past with an absolutely contemporary style. All the ingredients tendered from the past have been fashionably introduced in the decorations of rooms and common spaces. This is one of few places that has achieved an equilibrium between historic heritage and a decidedly modern attitude. The gothic neighborhood and Neri H&R are one in the same.
