Description

Previously owned by the chain Habitat under the name of Capital, this hotel does not need a post-card-horizon-line to develop its effective minimalist design, which articulated above all in simplicity and luminosity. The structure is a landmark in this zone of the grand Barcelona. Two concrete cubes stand in front of each other; one is clear and the other dark. They are connected by way of a glass and metallic structure, which is a striking element that filters light into the lobby, intermediary floors and elevators. Here, imagination surpasses other efforts of great expenditure that don’t guarantee success. Free of flashy effects, the hotel encloses the most sober essence of disseny. Water and light projected on white and black, and from there, an infinity of grays. Few places constitute a better place for businessmen and executives who find themselves in the trade area of the Montjuic II fair grounds. What used to be old buildings dirtied by the grime generated from industrial and commercial debris, today has become a fine and rational accommodation. The precise kaleidoscope of grays emphasizes the Zen beauty of the interior spaces, which are airy and elegant. By night, the electric lighting projected onto the geometric facade gives a new dimension to the contemporary architectural proposal. Equally studied forms are disclosed in the bedrooms that are refined examples of modern comforts attained by new minimalist forms, which have improved upon the Art Deco aesthetic. Wooden panels of the headboards and doors are completely clear of ornamentation, and the rooms are just barely filled by a desk, mini-bar and television. Even more stunning is the dinning room, spacious and luminous.
