Calle La Cruz 19 05635 Navarredonda de Gredos /Ávila (Castilla y León|Spain)
The inn’s name is not gratuitous: located at the highest point in town, this 17th century mansion offers a comfortable place to stay and magnificent views of Almanzor Peak that can be admired from the windows. The surrounding scenery is comprised of the regional park of Gredos and the inn’s garden with its age-old trees. The natural environs complement this stone construction, registered for its historic and artistic interest by the Regional Council. The manager, Teresa Pazo, has ancestors who once lived between these very walls. Perhaps for this reason she has given proper names to the rooms: the “Girls Room” is where the servants used to board; the room called the “Bread Lady I and II” show an original fireplace in the downstairs lounge. The decoration incorporates Asian closets and chairs, KA textiles and hand carved bedposts. What most stands out is the beauty of the Asian furnishings, above all the closets, chairs, tables; the great stone slate and wooden floors; the roof beams; and the wooden cupboards that display tin plates original to the house, antique Nordic snowshoes, large ceramic jugs, woven apple baskets, ect. The library completes the installation.
