Description

This old orphanage was constructed during the reign of Fernando VI and Carlos III in the heart of the capital of Asturias. It’s a well known because each year the Prince of Asturias Awards Ceremony and other official receptions are hosted here. The hostelry chain Occidental has carried out a profound renovation of all its bedrooms. While the building conserves: the old cloister, one of the most stunning spots in the hotel, decorated with tapestries, chandeliers and marble columns; and the chapel, an octagonal room with spherical dome. In the business center, each executive can enjoy an independent office.

EATING:

The hotel has various restaurants: Florencia serves a careful menu of regional dishes and an executive menu; Rey Castro Cafeteria offers a daily menu and combined dishes; and there is a cocktail bar. In town, Del Arco Restaurant, very romantic with good music, prepares a tasty sea bass from the Cantabric in grape sauce. Located on General Zubillaga, 1. Tel: 985 25 55 22.
