Lugar El Pito 33150 Cudillero /Asturias (Asturias|Spain)
Near Cudillero fishing port, atop the mountain known as El Pito, or The Whistle, this stately house built by indianos evokes the pride of those Spaniards who made their fortune in the Americas during the late 19th century. Thanks to the respectful work of Montse Abad, the colors of the past welcomes travelers today from the gated entryway, to the neoclassic façade and the creamy interior spaces. Oranges, burgundy and brick. Whites and greens. Ocean blue. The pleasant proprietor of indiano exoticism with her gardens filled with camellias, magnolias, oak and araucaria trees, pampers her house with more than just flowers. The principal living room divides its space between reading and restoring, always alongside the heat of the fireplace. While the breakfasts room transforms into a living room and game room. There is a new glassed-in gallery used as the summer living room, and at times a meeting hall for small company gatherings. Annexed apartments distributed on two floors along a corridor inherit their structure from the old stables. These have a more rustic build than bedrooms in the main house and featuring wooden floors and original lamps. Families often prefer the apartments because they have their own little gardens where the children can release all of their joviality. Sweetbreads, donuts and fried milk for breakfast. Delights and flirtation is this mansion of Asturias, born in 1877. If the night is clear, it’s a nice walk down to the restaurant El Pescador: dinners are not served at the house.

This stunning house built in 1877 seduced the present-day owners with its typical indiano architectural style and contiguous gardens enlivened by camellias, magnolias, century-old oaks, araucaria and maple trees.
Located the beautiful marine town of Cudillero, the house maintains the essencial indiano style, only without the ornate atmosphere that characterized 19th-century mansions. The house is decorated in a colonial style that blends warm colors and printed upholstery of modern likings to achieve a homey atmosphere in each room.
